Ok, I need you opinion
I've been curious about something we've been talking about on plurk...
Ok, so japanese people don't know that Antonio Banderas is spanish. How come? Do people in your countries know that? Where do they think he is from?

On the other hand, I find it normal that people don't know that Jean Reno is originally spanish, too! Born as Juan Moreno Herrera Jiménez, he changed his name when he became french: Juan->Jean (mo)Reno
His VERY spanish parents left Spain because of Franco, and that's how the story goes. Now, how many people did know? *not expecting many*

And finally, something you may have never heard about, but true. I mean, I did not invent it, people have been talking about it, too... WAS WALTER DISNEY SPANISH?
In Mojácar, almería, some people from the Disney company suddenly appeared one day, to check the civil documents of José Guirao Zamora, a child born of an adulterous relationship between a doctor, and the woman who washed his clothes, and who later emigrated to the USA, to give the child in adoption. Those people came here under Walter Disney's direct orders, and that's what they said, according to the people living there, that he was searching for his real origins because he had been adopted.

By the way, Walter Disney himself was an FBI agent, and also was been followed by FBI agents at the same time! They thought him a double agent! *discovered this while searching for the name of the village, and Walt's spanish name*

PS: And my bf wanted everyone to know that Hitler WAS NOT GERMAN. He was from Austria, and that's why they keep feeling nervous when the nationalists keep increasing their popularity in that country. I always remember when Poland censored almost everything on TV, including the Teletubbies...

I know Antonio is Spanish, i'm not sure about most people here but i think they might have know Antonio is spanish.

And Walter Disney, nope never know about his origin really, never look about it either. I just know he's American.

And Hitler I was been told that He's Jewish, so I knew about him not a german but .. yeah since I was told he's Jewish so I thought he's jewis. Never search about it either. =s

I'm not that keen about history unless i need to found out about something XD

One of his ancestors was thought to have been a jewish, because there were no records about him, but he was born in Austria. Roald Dahl wrote a wonderfully sweet short story about his birth.
And yeah, Walt (my life-long friend Walt, hey man!) is from the United States... officialy... ;-)
hamykiahamykia on November 13th, 2008 08:39 am (UTC)
I mean a jew xDD my viruses...
~tokie~tokie_chan on November 13th, 2008 08:47 am (UTC)
Roald Dahl wrote something about his birth... I have no idea about those evaaa... whoaaa
hamykiahamykia on November 13th, 2008 08:55 am (UTC)
yeah, a kind of tale in one of those books he wrote that on the last line of the story made you think "WHOA, WTH, is this what was ACTUALLY happening???!!! O_O" And re-read everything again xDD
This story was actually the one I SHOULD have known about it being Hitler, as it started with the Hitlers loosing a child and so on...
Amazing man, Roald Dahl, I wanna find that book again...
Ahahaha: HALCALIessency on November 13th, 2008 03:27 pm (UTC)
So where do they think Banderas is from then? (I knew he was spanish, but he fooled me when I was younger and thought he was Mexican).

Walter Disney himself was an FBI agent, and also was been followed by FBI agents at the same time!

hamykiahamykia on November 13th, 2008 06:56 pm (UTC)
Oh, well, Penelope and Antonio playing mexicans, that can be deceiving... Maybe that's what they think in Japan? I dunno why I suspect they think them american, though, they pronounce the name in english...

yeah, well, witch hunting led to some silly situations that could well appear in Marx Bros film xDD

I'm pretty sure people here know that he's Spanish. *nod* I always knew, at least, but that might be because one of the first films I saw him in was Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown... I do think most people are aware that he's Spanish here though.

I'd never heard that about Walt Disney though--that's crazy! *_*
hamykiahamykia on November 13th, 2008 07:01 pm (UTC)
Ahhh, mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios ^^ And Tuti sees him as an example to follow and look not so okama xDD

Ahh, the Walt Diney part, at last. I thought everyone was going to ignore that! It was the third thing they told me about Walt Disney, though. It was more or less "yeah, he made Snowhite and the Seven Dwarfs film" "oh, AND Mickey Mouse, too, of course " "btw, when I was little everyone called him José in Spain, some people believe him to be spanish!"

So yeah, are you sceptical? or...?
analineblue: B&W Blossomanalineblue on November 13th, 2008 09:16 pm (UTC)
So where did you hear that about Walt Disney? According to Wikipedia, he was born in Chicago --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walt_disney And I mean, I suppose that could be wrong, but... Yeah, I really have no idea. I hadn't heard anything about there being any question to his nationality before, and I suppose anything could be true, but... I think I'm skeptical. ^_~
hamykiahamykia on November 14th, 2008 06:52 am (UTC)
Oh, my father told me, as it was a great boom when he was a child. I also saw it in a spanish nespaper, and later on, on the spanish wiki article on him. The official birthplace is of course, Chicago, but then, why would he send some people to investigate the registers of that village in Almería?
And I can only find it logical that americans would not question his nationality. I think this is only something spanish people knew during the fifties, and no one really cared about them xDD
However, I can only find it funny enough to share my knowledge with more people. Now you can tell you friends something about Spain, that you would not have been able to find out otherwise ;-)

>>Jean Reno is originally spanish

Es uno de mis actores favoritos y no tenía ni idea D:

>>Poland censored almost everything on TV, including the Teletubbies...

LOL en serio? xDD
aunque mejor, eso solo cría niños tontos...qué tiempos los de Barrio Sésamo y cuando las Barbie eran prototipo de chicas decentes y no de pedorras como las Bratz ;__;

cuanta trivia he aprendido hoy, thanks! :D
hamykiahamykia on November 13th, 2008 07:03 pm (UTC)

I know Antonio is spanish, definitely not know that Jean Reno is originally Spanish (really? OMG! XDD) and not sure about Walt Disney. I've checked the Wiki too and it doesn't mention about him being adopted but dude, I think it doesn't matter, he gave us cool and great movies! XDDD
hamykiahamykia on November 14th, 2008 06:44 am (UTC)
oh, I checked the spanish wiki and of course it does mention, though the official date and birthplace are the american ones...
Yeah, well, it seems some spanish people matter. Lots of people called him José Guirao back in the fifties
